In many babies, the sleep patterns can change over time. They may start to sleep less, wake more often or take longer to sleep at night. This is called a “sleep regression”, although changes in sleep are part of your baby’s normal development. They usually last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

The most common sleep regressions occur around the age of 4 months, 6 months, 8 months, 12 months, 18 months & 2 years. However not all babies go through sleep regression at exactly these times. Also they may not experience all of the regressions. It has been commonly observed that regressions are related to major baby milestones such as teething, weaning, crawling, walking, etc.

Maintaining consistent bed time routines and avoiding screen time well before bedtime can improve the quality of sleep, even during a regression.
